Top Ten Activities for the Weekend

By Cheryl Mattox Berry

The weekend is here. Shake off the school week, forget your worries and get ready for some fun. Here are the top 10 things you should do this weekend.

10.  Sleep. You can’t get enough of it during the week with all you have to do – school, sports and other stuff. So, sleep late. Go to bed early. You should feel relaxed and refreshed come Monday morning.

9.  Video chat with your cousin who lives in another city. Get caught up on the latest family gossip and what’s going on in her life. Share only what you don’t mind her repeating.

8.  Bake chocolate chip cookies. The ones at the mall taste okay, but yours are a lot better. Eat them hot with vanilla ice cream or milk.

7.  Work out because you pigged out on chocolate chip cookies and ice cream.

6.  Sneak and read your mother’s copy of “Fifty Shades of Grey” by E.L. James. They call it mommy porn. What do you think?

5.  Download new music. You’ve got to be tired of listening to the same old songs.

4.   Check out your local newspaper for free activities, such as concerts, museum events and street fairs. Sample the fare from food trucks. That’s a dining experience like no other.

3.  You’ve heard classmates talking about the season finale of the TV series “Revenge” but haven’t had a chance to watch it. Set aside a few hours over the next two days and watch the whole season On Demand. Don’t forget the popcorn and M&Ms.

2.  Go see Snow White and the Huntsman. Kristin Stewart didn’t show much personality on a rerun of her appearance on “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” earlier this week, but she comes alive on the silver screen.

Drum roll, please. And the No. 1 thing to do this weekend:

1.  Take a nap after seeing Snow White and the Huntsman. Like I said, you can never get too much sleep.
