Sometimes, you act before you think. Then, there are times when you don’t realize that you did something wrong. As the saying goes, “When you know better, you do better.” Here is the latest installment of “Rules to Live By.” If you see yourself in any of them, work on correcting the behavior.
1. You look good, you feel good, BUT don’t send a selfie in a provocative pose. There’s no telling where it might end up.
2. Don’t roll your eyes when an elderly person starts talking about her youth. You just might learn something. Plus, they see you being disrespectful.
3. If you’re suffering from a cold, sneeze into the crook of your arm, and wash your hands before touching communal food.
4. Pick up a real newspaper every now and then to catch up on current events.
5. Your teacup pooch is cute, but she isn’t welcome everywhere you go.
6. Avoid throwing paper, including gum wrappers, on the ground, and plastic bottles and straws in waterways.
7. Smoking an electronic cigarette may look cool, but doctors say inhaling nicotine vapor may be harmful. Don’t risk your health for a fad.
8. Don’t slurp in public. It’s not funny.
9. Sticking your feet out the car window is dangerous. Can’t put high heels on nubs.
10. Try new foods before deciding that you hate them.
11. Ask permission to bring a guest to an invitation-only event.
12. Don’t snoop through another person’s medicine cabinet.
13. If you’re sick, stay home to avoid spreading germs.
14. Don’t change the channel without getting permission from others watching TV.
15. Squeeze a tube of toothpaste from the bottom.
16. Feet belong on the floor, not the coffee table.
17. Donate old books and DVDs to avoid cluttering your bedroom.
18. Keep your promises.
19. Speak up when something makes you uncomfortable.
20. Don’t argue with other drivers.
